Three capacitorsC1, C2 and C3 are connected in series. Derive an expression for the equivalent
capacitance. (P.S.E.B March 2011)

in series combination charge Q is same and potential is different .

so V=V1+V2+V3

Q/C=Q/C1+Q/V2+Q/V3 [VQ/C]

Q/C=Q[1/C1+1/C2+1/C3]

1/C[equivalent]=1/C1+1/C2+1/C3
