Given : Three charge 1 μC , 1μC and 2μC are kept at the vertices A , B and C of 10cm side respectively.

To find : The resultant force on the charge C.

solution : force exerted by A on C , F₁ = k(1μC)(1μC)/(10cm)² = (9 × 10¯³)/(10¯²) = 0.9 N

force exerted by B on C, F₂ = k(1μC)(1μC)/(10cm)²

= (9 × 10¯³)/(10¯²) = 0.9 N

angle between F₁ and F₂ is 60° as shown in figure.

so, Fnet = √{F₁² + F₂² + 2F₁.F₂cosθ}

= √{(0.9)² + (0.9)² + 2(0.9)(0.9)cos60°}

= 0.9√3

= 1.5588 ≈ 1.6 N

Therefore resultant force on the charge C is 1.6 N
