Three concentric spherical shells have radii a, b and c (a < b < c) and have surface charge densities o, -o and o respectively. If Va Vb and Vc denote the potential of the three shells, then
for c = a + b, we have
1) Vc=Va#Vb (2) Vc = Vb#VA
(3) Vc# Vb# VA (4) Va = Vb = Vc

POINTS TO PONDER:

1) Total potential at any point is sum of potential due to all i dividual charges.

2) Potential due to a charged sphere at any point outside the sphere at a distance r from centre is, V=kQ/r

3) Potential inside a charged sphere of radius R at any point is constant and equal to, V=kQ/R

4) While considering Sphere B, we see the Potential at Point B on sphere.

Firstly, We consider potential of A at an external point B i.e kQ(A)/b

Secondly, We consider potential on surface of B.

Thirdly, We consider potential of C at an internal point B i.e kQ(C)/c

Now add it all.
