Three condensers of capacity 2uF,4uF and 8uF respectively, are first connected in series and then connected in parallel. The ratio of equivalent capacities in two cases will be

Answer:

For series,

1/C series = 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 = 7/8

∴Cseries = 8/7 μF

For parallel, C parallel =C1 +C2 +C3 =2+4+8=14μF

Cseries/Cparallel = 8/7×14 = 49/4
