let \:  \: the \:  \: numbers \:  \:be \:  \:  \\ x  - 1\:  \:and \:  \:  x \:  \: and \:  \: x  + 1 \\ 2( x - 1) + 3x + 4(x + 1) = 74 \\  =  > 2x - 2 + 3x + 4x + 4 = 74 \\  =  > 9x + 2 = 74 \\  =  > 9x = 74 - 2 \\  =  > 9x =  72 \\  =  > x = 8 \\  =  > (x - 1 )= 7 \\  =  > (x + 1) = 9 \\ therefore \:  \: the \:  \: numbers \:  \: are \:  \:  \\ 7 \:  \: and \:  \: 8 \:  \: and \:  \: 9.
