Answer

Given,

  • Sum of consecutive integers taken in increasing order when multiplied by 2,3,4 respectively they add up to 254

To find,

  • Consecutive integers

Solution ,

Let us see some consecutive integers :

  • 2,3,4
  • 7,8,9
  • -5,-4,-3

What do we find similar in all the above examples.

  • 2 , 2+1 , 2+2
  • 7 , 7+1 , 7+2
  • -5 , -5+1 , -5+2

We got that if 'x' is an integer then its successive consecutive integer will be 'x+1' and further on 'x+2' .

So,

Let three consecutive integers be

  • x
  • x + 1
  • x + 2

Multiplying them by 2,3,4 respectively

We get,

  • 2x
  • 3x + 3
  • 4x + 8

According to the question :

៚ 2x + 3x + 3 + 4x + 8 = 254

៚ 9x + 11 = 254

៚ 9x = 243

៚ x = 27

៚ x + 1 = 28

៚ x + 2 = 29

Hence the integers will be

  • 27
  • 28
  • 29
