Let the numbers be x , x + 1 , x + 2.

x/5 + x+1/3 + x+2/4 = 40
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 40 × 5 × 3 × 4
3x + 3 = 2400
3x = 2400 - 3
3x = 2397
x = 2397 ÷ 3
x = 799

Answer:

Let the three consecutive whole numbers be x, x + 1 and x + 2

Let the three consecutive whole numbers be x, x + 1 and x + 2According to the statement:

Let the three consecutive whole numbers be x, x + 1 and x + 2According to the statement:x/5 + (x + 1)/3 + (x + 2)/4 = 40

Let the three consecutive whole numbers be x, x + 1 and x + 2According to the statement:x/5 + (x + 1)/3 + (x + 2)/4 = 40⇒ (x/5) × 60 + (x + 1)/3 × 60 + (x + 2)/4 × 60 = 40 × 60

Let the three consecutive whole numbers be x, x + 1 and x + 2According to the statement:x/5 + (x + 1)/3 + (x + 2)/4 = 40⇒ (x/5) × 60 + (x + 1)/3 × 60 + (x + 2)/4 × 60 = 40 × 60[Multiplying each term by 60 because L.C.M. Of denominators = 60]

Of denominators = 60]⇒ 12x + 20(x + 1) + 15(x + 2) = 2400

Of denominators = 60]⇒ 12x + 20(x + 1) + 15(x + 2) = 2400⇒ 12x + 20x + 20 + 15x + 30 = 2400

Of denominators = 60]⇒ 12x + 20(x + 1) + 15(x + 2) = 2400⇒ 12x + 20x + 20 + 15x + 30 = 2400⇒ 12x + 20x + 15x = 2400 – 20 – 30
