Three contenders M, N and P battled in an election. Out of the total votes on a voter list 25% did not vote and 6.66% votes polled were invalid. P got 2450 valid votes, which were 40% more than that of N. If M got only 40% of the total votes, then what is the total number of votes?

Step-by-step explanation:

let total no.of be x

25x/100+6.66x/100+2450+2450-40x/100+40x/100=x

31.66x/100+4900=x

4900=x-31.66x/100

4900=68.34x/100

490000=68.34x

x=7170.0

☆The total no.of votes are 7170
