then the angle between any two of them must be 120 deg.

Place the forces as follows:

Force 1 :   along the positive x-axis

Force 2 :   + 120 deg from the positive x-axis

Force 3.    -120 deg from the positive x-axis

By symmetry there is no net force in the Y direction.

Also, the forces in the X direction also cancel since

2 F cos 60 = F

Thus, the resultant force is zero.
