Side = 6 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Measure of side of 1 st cube is 3 cm.
  • Second cube is 4 cm.
  • Third cube is 5 cm.
  • All these three cubes are melted to form a new cube.

To Find:

  • What is the length of sides of new cube ?

Solution: Volume of larger cube will be equal to volume of these three cubes. So first let's find the volume of each cube

As we know that

Volume of Cube = a³ / side³

Therefore,

➟ Volume of first cube = 3³ = 27 cm³

➟ Volume of second cube = 4³ = 64 cm³

➟ Volume of third cube = 5³ = 125 cm³

∴ Total volume = 27 + 64 + 125 = 216 cm³

  • So the volume of larger cube will be 216 cm³ and its side

➬ a³ = 216

➬ a = ³√216

➬ a = 6 cm

Hence, the length of side of new cube will be 6 cm.
