Three cuboids A, B and C of weights 100 N, 200 N and 1000 N, have surface areas 2m2

and 10m2
respectively. The cuboids which exert the same pressure are: [1]

Pressure = Force / Area

Pressure for cuboid A - 100N/2m²= 50 pa.

Pressure for cuboid B - 200N/2m²= 100 pa.

Pressure for cuboid C - 1000N/10m²= 100 pa.

Therefore, Cuboid B and C will exert same pressure.
So, correct option is (b) B and C

Cuboid A :-
Surface area = 2 m²
Force = 100 N

Cuboid B :-
Surface area = 2m²
Force = 200 N


Cuboid C :-
Surface area = 10 m²
Force = 1000 N

Pressure = Thrust / Area

Pressure is inversely proportional to area.
If area increases , pressure decreases and vice versa.

Pressure exerted by cuboid A = 100 / 2 = 50 Pa

Pressure exerted by cuboid B = 200 /2 = 100 Pa

Pressure exerted by cuboid C = 1000/10 = 100 Pa

The  cuboids which exert same pressure :-
(b) B and C
