in X diffusion takes place (hypotonic solution)

in y same diffusion takes place(hypertonic solution)
in a it is neutral solution so nothing takes place

X is hypotonic solution ,Y is hypertonic solution and z is isotonic solution.
the phenomenon is deplasomolysis in first case and plasmolysis in second. Or you can say the egg shell got turgid after keeping the egg in solution X and the egg got shrunken when kept in solution Y.

hope it helps, have a nice day
