A body is said to be at rest if its position does not change with respect to its surroundings. Whereas, when the position of a body changes with respect to its surroundings, it is said to be in motion.

Example of rest :- A mug lying on table will not change its position untill we disturb it. So it is the state of rest.....

Example of motion :- A flying bird is also said to be in motion as it changes its position with respect to stationary objects such as trees.......
