The three-domain system was introduced by Carl Woese. The three domains of life characteristics divide the cellular forms into eukaryote, archaea and bacteria domains.

It is essential to know that it emphasizes the division of prokaryotes into 2 different groups including Eubacteria and Archaebacteria. Initially, he used Kingdom for referring to 3 primary phylogenic groupings.

In fact, the parts of the three-domain theory are challenged by a well-known scientist named Radhey Gupta.

Three domains system or six kingdom organisation is a

the biological classification system in which living

bodies were divided based on cellular features.

It was introduced by Carl Woese in 1990.

The three domains:

  • (i) Archaea:

It contains prokaryotic bodies, which

hold a monolayer core of lipids in the cell membrane

and different nucleotides in their 16 S RNA.

  • (ii) Bacteria:

It includes typical prokaryotes, which lack

membrane-covered cell organelles but don't have a

kind of microchambers for distributing different activities.

  • (iii) Eukarya:

This domain comprises eukaryotic organisms,

started by the endosymbiotic association between some

archaebacteria and eubacteria. It contains four kingdoms -Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia.
