Three _____ for Muster Mark!
Sure he has not got much of a bark
And sure any he has it's all beside the mark.
- James Joyce, Finnegans Wake

What in the world of physics ( blank) owes its name to this rhyme from Finnegans Wake?
It is said X chose the name because, and I quote “ The number ‘three’ fitted perfectly.”

Answer:

The line was: Three quarks for Muster Mark! And sure any he has it's all beside the mark. But quark didn't sound quite like the kwork that was ringing in Gell-Mann's head.
