Let A be A’s portion.
Let B be B’s portion.
Let C be C’s portion.

Given:
A’s portion and B’s portion = 35
A + B = 35 ... Eq.1

B’s portion less 5 than C’s portion
B = C - 5 ... Eq.2

Ratio A to C = 4 : 5

Solution:

First, find the ratio of A to C

A/C = 4/5
A = 4/5C = 0.8C

By substituting the values to the given Eq.1 and Eq.2 to find the value of C

A + B = 35

(0.8C) + (C - 5) = 35

0. 8C + C - 5 = 35

1.8C = 40

C = 40/1.8 = 22.22...

Therefore, A + B + C = 35 + 22.22 = 57.22 $

That’s their total bill amount.

Hope this will be helpful to you.
