Given : Three friends Alice, Bond and Charlie divided Rs. 2,210 amongst them in such a way that if Rs. 17. Rs. 10 and Rs 18 are deducted from the sums that Alice, Bond and Chadie received respectively, then the resultant ratio of their sums received will be 133:171:129.

To Find :  sum  Charlie received

Solution:

Alice, Bond and Charlie receive  A , B and C respectively

(A - 17 ) : ( B - 10) : (C - 18 ) ::  133 : 171 : 129

=> (A - 17 ) : ( B - 10) : (C - 18 ) ::  133k : 171k : 129k

=> A = 133k + 17

   B = 171k + 10

   C = 129k  + 18

A + B + C  = 2210

=> 133k + 17 + 171 k + 10 + 129k + 18  = 2210

=>  433k  + 45 = 2210

=> 433k  = 2165

=> k  = 5

Charlie receive  129k  + 18

= 129 * 5  + 18

= 645 + 18

= 663

Charlie received = Rs 633
