area of a rectangle = 2(l+b)

area = 2(5+6)

        = 2(11)

        = 22 cm^2

area of the new rectangle formed =22+ area of square

area of square = 4 x side = 4 x 1

                                          = 4 cm^2

thus, 22 +4 = 26 cm^2
