Three liquids are given to you. One is hydrochloric acid, another is sodium hydroxide and the third is sugar solution. How will you identify them? You have only turmeric indicator.

Turmeric turns yellow in the presence of an acid, and red in the presence of a base. Since hydrochloric acid is an acid, it will turn turmeric yellow. Similarly, sodium hydroxide will turn red. However, the sugar solution won't show any change in colour, as it is chemically neutral. Hence all the solutions can be identified easily
