The difference is basically in the shape of the cells or how they appear microscopically. Cubodial is square like a cube. Theses cells tend to form a layer of an organ that secretes or absorbs. Such as salivary glands or nephrons in the kidneys. Columnar are more elongated, they look like rectangles or a column. They also function for secretion or absorption.
