SOLUTION

GIVEN

Three measuring jar have the capability of 15 ml , 50ml , and 30 ml

TO DETERMINE

The least capacity which can be perfectly measured by any one of the measuring jars

EVALUATION

Here the given three measuring jar have the capability of 15 ml , 50ml , and 30 ml

Now

15 = 3 × 5

50 = 2 × 5 × 5

30 = 2 × 3 × 5

∴ HCF = 5

Hence the least capacity which can be perfectly measured by any one of the measuring jars is 5 ml

Step-by-step explanation:

We are provided that, the capacity of three jars is 15 ml, 50 ml and 30 ml. We need to find the least capacity which can be perfectly measured by any one of the jars.

If we find the highest common factors (HCF) of the capacities, we can find the least capacity.

Let's list out the prime factors:

Prime factors of 15 = 3 × 5

Prime factors of 50 = 2 × 5²

Prime factors of 30: 2 × 3 × 5

HCF is the product of common prime factors which has the least power of exponents.

We can observe that, 5 is the only common prime factor with least power. Therefore,

⇒ HCF = 5

Therefore, the least capacity which can be perfectly measured by any one of the measuring jars is 5.
