Here we are provided with three measuring rods of lengths - 42 cm , 66 cm and 84 cm.

We have to find out the shortest length that can be exactly measured by each of these three rods.

So, for this we have to find out the Least Common Multiple of these three measuring rods' lengths.

42 = 2×3×7

66 = 2×3×11

84=2×2×3×7

LCM = 2×3×7×11×2

= 924.

Hence the required shortest length that can be measured exactly is 924 cm.
