Three media A, B, and C have refractive indices of 1.33, 1.45, and 1.31
respectively, then what is the correct order of speed of light in those media?
(A) VA > VB > Vc (B) Vc < VA < VB (C) VA VB < Vc (D) Vc > VA > VB

Answer:

Refractive Index= Speed of light is vacuum/ speed of light in that medium

as, speed of light in vacuum is constant, and speed of medium is changing, thus, more the speed of light in that medium, less the value of fraction will be.

So the highest value is V(B)= 1.45, this has lowest speed

then V(A) which has little greater speed and lastly V(C) has highest speed of light among these three.

So correct order is option(D)

V(C)> V(A)> V(B)
