Solution!!

The ratio of 3 numbers and the sum of the numbers is given in the question. We have to find the numbers.

Ratio = 2 : 3 : 5

Sum of the numbers = 800

Let the numbers be 2x, 3x and 5x.

Now the sum of these numbers is 800.

2x + 3x + 5x = 800

10x = 800

x = 800 ÷ 10

x = 80

2x = 2 × 80 = 160

3x = 3 × 80 = 240

5x = 5 × 80 = 400

So, the numbers are 160, 240 and 400.

Verification!!

2x + 3x + 5x = 800

Taking LHS,

= 160 + 240 + 400

= 400 + 400

= 800

LHS = RHS

Hence, verified.
