The original numbers are 3,12 and 36

1) The given ratio of 3 numbers is 1:4:12.

2) Let the numbers be x, 4x and 12x

3) Adding 1 to first number, new numbers are: x+1, 4x, 12x

4) The resulting numbers form an GP i.e.

(x+1)/4x = 4x/12x

5) Solving the given relation gives, (x+1)/4x = 1/3 or 3(x+1) = 4x

6) This gives x = 3.

Hence, the numbers are 3, 12 and 36
