Answer:

Q=40

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :- Three numbers P,Q and R are in the ratio 3:4:5. if 15 is subtracted from P ,5 is added to Q and 10 is added to R the ratio between the new numbers become 1:3:4 respectively .what is the value of Q ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, P is 3x , Q is 4x and R is 5x.

given that,

15 is subtracted from P .

5 is added to Q .

10 is added to R.

So,

→ New P = (3x - 15)

→ New Q = (4x + 5)

→ New R = (5x + 10) .

given that,

The new number becomes in ratio = 1 : 3 : 4 .

Therefore,

→ (3x - 15) : (4x + 5) : (5x + 10) = 1 : 3 : 4.

→ (3x - 15) / (4x + 5) = 1/3

→ 3(3x - 15) = (4x + 5)

→ 9x - 45 = 4x + 5

→ 9x - 4x = 5 + 45

→ 5x = 50

dividing both sides by 5,

→ x = 10.

Hence,

→ value of Q = 4x = 4 * 10 = 40 (Ans.)
