Question Given :

  • three numbers the ratio 2:5:7 and the average 20 find the smallest number?

Required Solution :

Value given to us :

  • three numbers the ratio 2:5:7

Assumptions :

  • Let the Number be 2x , 5x , 7x

According to Question :

  • 20 = [ 2x + 5x + 7x ] / 3

  • 20 × 3 = 14x

  • 60 = 14x

  • x = 60/ 14

  • x = 4 [ Approximately ]

Putting Value at place of x :

  • First Number = 3 × 4 = 12

  • Second Number = 5 × 4 = 20

  • Third Number = 6 × 4 = 24

Hence :

.°. Smallest Number is 12

Suppose, the three numbers = 2z, 3z and 5z

Suppose, the three numbers = 2z, 3z and 5zAs per question,

(2z)2+(3z)2+(5z)2

=608

or 4z2+9z2 +25^2

=608

or 38z2 =608

or z2=608÷38

or z2 =16

or z2=(4)2

or z=4

Hence, the three numbers are

2×z=2×4=8

3×z=3×4=12

5×z=5×4=20
