Three pieces of wood measuring 70 m, 105 m and 175 m long have to be divided into planks of equal length. What is the greatest possible length of each plank?

Length is 70, 105 and 175m.

Greatest possible length :

It is the H.C.F of the length of planks.

So,

70 = 2 * 5 * 7

105 = 5 * 7 * 3

175 = 5 * 5 * 7

So the highest common factor is 7 * 5 = 35 .

Hence, 35 meter is the maximum  possible lenght.
