Three pipes A,B and C, fills a drum in 5 hours, 15 hours and 20 hours respectively. (A)If all the taps are open, in how many hours will the drum be filled? (B) If tap A and tap B are closed after 7/2 hours, how much time will tap C take to fill the remaining work?​

a) 20+15+5 = 40 hours

b) 3 hours 30 minutes

b)) 34 hours it will take bcz 5- 3.5= 1.5, 15-3.5= 12.5, 12.5+1.5+20= 34

  • Taps A, B and C will fill 1/5, 1/15 and 1/20 part of drum.

Solution :-

In 3 1/2 hours, pary of drum filled is -

  • ➡ Drum filled = 3.5 × (1/5 + 1/15)

  • ➡ Drum filled = 14/15 part

  • ➡ Remaining 1 - 14/15 = 1/15th drum.

Time required to fill remaining drum by C is -

  • ⏲ Time = (1/15) / (1/20)

  • ⏲ Time = 4/3 hours

  • ⏲ Time = 1 hr 20 min

Therefore,

  • C will take 1 hr 20 min to fill remaining drum.
