Answer:

Explanation:

Given Three point masses of 1 kg 2 kg and 3 kg live at (1,2) (0,1) and (2, -3) respectively calculate the coordinates of the centre of mass of the system

In the graph we have

1 kg of mass lie at (1,2)

2 kg of mass lie at (0, -1)

3 kg of mass lie at (2, -3)

We have the vectors as i + 2j, -j and 2i – 3j

Now centre of mass is given by

r = m1r1 + m2r2 + m3r3 / (m1 + m2 + m3) where r1,r2 and r3 are position vectors.

r = 1(i + 2j) + 2 (-j) + 3(2i – 3j) / 1 + 2 + 3

r = 7 i – 9j / 6

r = 7 / 6i  - 3/2 j

So the coordinates will be (7/6, -3/2)
