Let a , b , c are three positive numbers ,
a : b : c = 1/2:1/3:1/4
= 12/2 : 12/3 : 12/4
= 6 : 4 : 3
Let a = 6x ,
b = 4x ,
c = 3x
(according to the problem given ,
( 6x )² + ( 4x )² + ( 3x )² = 244
36x² + 16x² + 9x² = 244
61x² = 244
x² = 244/61
x² = 4
x = √4
x = 2 ,
Therefore ,
Required three numbers are,
a = 6x = 6 × 2 = 12 ,
b = 4x = 4 × 2 = 8
c = 3x = 3 × 2 = 6
