Answer:

They are: Attractive Property – Magnet attracts ferromagnetic materials like iron, cobalt, and nickel. Repulsive Properties – Like magnetic poles repel each other and unlike magnetic poles attract each other. Directive Property – A freely suspended magnet always points in a north-south direction.

Answer :

Magnets are the substances which have property to attract any metallic object. It is named so because of it was discovered in a Greek city called Magnesia. Nowadays artificial magnets are in more use. Some properties of magnets are listed below.

Properties of magnets :

1 ) Directive property - According to this property

of a magnet, a freely suspended bar magnet always align itself in north - south . if it is disturbed then after oscillating for sometime it against comes to rest and align itself in north - south direction . The end of magnet which points towards north pole of earth is called north pole of magnet and the end which points towards south pole of earth is called South Pole of magnet.

2 ) Law of magnetic poles - According to this property of magnet unlike poles of magnet attract and like poles repel. This property of magnet says that that if same poles of two magnets face each other then they repel each other and opposite poles of two magnets when face each other then they attract each other.

3 ) Pair properly - According to this property of magnets the poles of magnet always exist in pairs. Or a magnet always have dipole. If a magnet is cut several times then each part of it will have it's own independent two poles. Even at molecular level.
