Explanation:

R1= 4 ohm

R2= 6 ohm

R3= 12 ohm

1/R= 1/R1 +1/R2+1/R3

1/R= (R1+R2+R3)/R1R2R3

R= (R1R2R3)/(R1+R2+R3)

R= (4*6*12)/(4+6+12)

R= 288/22

R= 13.10 ohm

effective resistance 13.10 ohm

V= 24 volt

total current I = V/R

= 24/13.10 = 1.83 amp

current through 4 ohm resistance is

i1= (1.83*4)/(4+6+12)

= 0.334 amp

current through 6 ohm resistance is

i2= (1.83*6)/(4+6+12)

= 0.499 amp

current through 12ohm resistance is

i3= (1.83*12)/(4+6+12)

= 0.998 amp

I = i1+i2+i3

= (0.334+0.499+0.998) = 1.83 amp
