R_1 = 10 Ω

R_2 = 15 Ω

R_3 = 30 Ω are the given resistors.

(i) When they are in series combination

R_{eq} = R_1 + R_2 + R_3 = 10 + 15 + 30 = 55 Ω

(ii) When they are in parallel combination

\frac{1}{R_{eq}} = \frac{1}{R_1} + \frac{1}{R_2} + \frac{1}{R_3}

\frac{1}{R_{eq}}  = \frac{1}{10} + \frac{1}{15} + \frac{1}{30}

\frac{1}{R_{eq}}   = \frac{6}{30}

R_{eq} = 5 Ω
