if the resistors are connected in series then the equivalent resistance is given by
Rs=R1+R2+R3
Rs=12+15+20
Rs=47Ω
if the resistors are connected in parallel then the equivalent resistance is given by
1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2/1/R3
1/Rp=1/12+1/15+1/20
1/RP=12/60(on taking LCM and calculating)
Rp=5Ω
Rs=R1+R2+R3
Rs=12+15+20
Rs=47Ω
if the resistors are connected in parallel then the equivalent resistance is given by
1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2/1/R3
1/Rp=1/12+1/15+1/20
1/RP=12/60(on taking LCM and calculating)
Rp=5Ω
