Answer:

Effective resistance = R1 + R2 + R3.

= 3 +5+7 = 15 ohms.

Since they are connected in series, we caj find the eff. resistance by adding all of them.

The equivalent resistance is 15 ohms.

Given : Three resistors of of resistances 3ohm,5ohm and 7ohm are connected in series.

To find : The equivalent resistance.

Solution :

We can simply solve this numerical problem by using the following method. (our goal is to calculate the value of equivalent resistance)

Here, we will be using the formula of equivalent resistance in series connection. Which is :

R_{eq} = r_{1} + r_{1} + ... + r_{n}

According to the above mentioned formula,

R_{eq} = \: (3 + 5 + 8) \: ohms

or,

R_{eq} = 15 \: ohms

(This will be considered as the final result. And, this equivalent resistance is only valid for the series connection.)

Hence, the value of equivalent resistance is 15 ohms.
