firstly, according to the question's given condition
40ohm and 60 ohm are series so,
R = R(ac) + R (cb)
R = 100 + 60
R = 160 ohm ------------( 1 )
this R is parallel to 40 ohm,
therefore,
1 / R = 1 / 40 + 1 / 160
1 / R = 5 / 160
R = 160/5
R = 32 ohm.
Therefore, the answer is option A
