Reciprocal of Resistance in parallel.
combination is the sum of reciprocals of all resistance of resistors.
1/R=1/r+1/r+1/r
1/R =1/12+1/12+1/12
1/R=3/12
1/R=1/4
R=4 OHM

Given : Value of each resistor's resistance is 12 ohms and they are connected in parallel.

To find : The value of equivalent resistance.

Solution :

The equivalent resistance is 4 ohms

We can simply solve this numerical problem by using the following process. (our goal is to calculate the value of equivalent resistance)

Here, we will be using the formula for calculating equivalent resistance in case of parallel connection. (if the connection is in series the case will be completely different)

Now, in case of parallel connection :

 \frac{1}{R_{eq}}  =  \frac{1}{r_{1}}  +  \frac{1}{r_{2}} + ...  +  \frac{1}{r_{n}}

According to the above mentioned formula,

  \frac{1}{R_{eq}} =  \frac{1}{12}  +  \frac{1}{12}  + \frac{1}{12}

\frac{1}{R_{eq}} = \frac{1 + 1 + 1}{12}

\frac{1}{R_{eq}} = \frac{3}{12}

R _{eq} =  \frac{12}{3}

R _{eq} = \: 4 \: ohms

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, the value of equivalent resistance is 4 ohms
