Answer :

  • Current through the Circuit is 0.75 Amperes.

Given :

  • Three resistors 13 Ω , 17 Ω and 10 Ω are connected in Series
  • Potential difference through the circuit, V = 30 V

To find :

  • Current through the circuit, I = ?

Knowledge required :

Law of combination of resistances in series

  • When 'n' number of resistors are connected in series combination then the equivalent resistance of the combination is given by the sum of all individual resistances in the circuit.

R(eq) = R₁ + R₂ + R₃ + R₄ + ...... Rₙ

Ohm's Law

  • V = I R

[ where V is potential difference, I is current and R is resistance ]

Solution :

Calculating equivalent resistance (R) of three given three resistors connected in series combination

→ R = 13 Ω + 17 Ω + 10 Ω

→ R = 40 Ω

Calculating current through the Circuit Using Ohm's Law

→ V = I R

→ 30 = I ( 40 )

→ I = 30 / 40

→ I = 0.75 A

therefore,

  • Current through the Circuit is 0.75 Ampere .
