a.  consider the 2 resistors in series: Rs = R1 + R2 = 3+3 = 6 ohm

    now consider the parallel resistor : 1/Rp = 1/R1+1/R2 = 1/6 + 1/3

      take LCM                                            = (1+2)/6 = 3/6= 1/2 = 0.5 ohm

   effective resistance Rt = Rs +Rf = 6 + 0.5 = 6.5 ohm

b. V = IR

     I = V / R = 3 / 6.5 = 0.5 A (approx)
