Since the resistors are connected in parallel

R1= 6 ohm R2= 8 ohm R3=12 ohm

1/Rtotal =1/R1+1/R2+1/R3

=1/6+1/8+1/12=9/24

R total =24/9

We know V=IR

V=5 V

I=V/R

=5×9/24

=1.85 A

jakebiniojacob: ITS WRONG YOU DID NOT TAKE THE RECIPROCAL OF 9/24
jakebiniojacob: IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE=>5*24/9
reemjahangeer87: Read it again ..I guess u got it wrong ..r is 24/9
reemjahangeer87: And I took reciprocal ..so it changed to 9/24

  • Given: Resistors of 6ohm,8ohm and 12ohm
  • Battery=5V

We know that resistors in parallel => 1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2+1/R3

=>1/Rp=1/6+1/8+1/12

=>8+6/48 + 1*4/12*4

=>14/48 + 4/48

=>18/48 (cut by 2 and 3)

=>3/8

∴ R=3/8

Since V=IR

we'll get that, I=V/R

I=5/3/8

=>5*8/3 (taking Reciprocal)

=>40/3A

Therefore, CURRENT(I)=40/3A
