Three resistors of resistances 10 ohms, 20 ohms and 30 ohms are connected in parallel with a 6-V cell. Find (a) the current through each resistor, (b) the current supplied by the cell, and (c) the equivalent resistance of the circuit.​

a) 0.6 ohm, 0.3 ohm and 0.2 ohm respectively

c) 60/11 ohm

Explanation:

Voltage = 6V

We know that I = V/R.

Then, current passing through resistor of 10ohm= 6/10 = 0.6 ohm

Similarly current passing through resistor of 20 ohm = 6/20 = 0.3 ohm, and

current passing through resistor of 30 ohm = 6/30= 0.5ohm

Therefore total current = 0.6 + 0.3 +0.2= 1.1A

As the resistors are connected in parallel so,

1/ equivalent resistance = 1/10 + 1/20 + 1/30 ohm

= (6+3+2)/60 ohm= 11/60 ohm

Therefore, equivalent resistance = 60/11 ohm .
