Answer:

Let the number be y.

so the equation goes like this :

\frac{3}{7} × y = \frac{2}{5} × y + 4

( As they have stated that  Three seventh of a number is greater than two fifth of the number by 4, we add to 4 to two fifth of the number to make it equal. Hope you undestand the equation)

\frac{3y}{7} = \frac{2y}{5} + 4

Take L.C.M

\frac{3y}{7} = \frac{2y + 20}{5}

Cross multiply. we get:

5(3y) = 7( 2y + 20)

⇒ 15y = 14y + 140

⇒ 15y - 14y = 140

⇒ y = 140

∴ The number is 140.

Hope this helps!
