Given : Three shops A, B and C sold cars in January, February and March
The total number of cars sold in this three-month period by A, B and C were 400, 320 and 500 respectively
To Find : ratio of the total number of cars sold in January, February and March by the three shops
Solution :
Both A and C sold the same number of cars in January.
= J
The number of cars sold by A and C in March was also the same.
= M
Car Sold by B in March = 500 - 2M
A sold 120 cars in February which was half of the number of cars sold by C
=> 120 = M/2
=> M = 240
car sold by A and C in March = 240
Both A and B sold exactly the same number of cars in February
A & B in February = 120
A sold = J + 120 + 240 = 400
=> J = 40
C sold = 40 + 240 + in Feb = 500
=> C sold in Feb = 220
B sold x + 4x + 120 = 320
=> 5x = 200
=> x = 40
B sold in Jan = 40 , Feb = 120 Mar = 160
A B C
JAN = 40 + 40 + 40 = 120
FEB = 120 + 120 + 220 = 460
MAR 240 + 160 + 240 = 640
400 320 500
120 : 460 : 640
= 6 : 23 : 32
6 : 23 : 32 is the ratio
