SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • Three sides of a triangle measure (2x + 3) units, (x + 5) units and 4x units

  • The perimeter is 148 units.

TO DETERMINE

The measure of the sides

EVALUATION

Here it is given that three sides of a triangle measure (2x + 3) units, (x + 5) units and 4x units

Now the perimeter is 148 units.

So by the given condition

2x + 3 + x + 5 + 4x = 148

⇒ 7x + 8 = 148

⇒ 7x = 140

⇒ x = 20

Hence we get

First side = 2x + 3 = 43 units

Second side = x + 5 = 25 units

Third side = 4x = 80 units
