Let the number be x .

Three times a number = 3x

Six times a number = 6x

Therefore , 3x + 10 = 6x - 20

10 + 20 = 6x - 3x

30 = 3x

x = 30/3

x = 10

Therefore , 3 × 10 + 10 = 6 × 10 - 20

40 = 40
