The Translational motion is the motion of body where body moves in the linear path rather than rotational one. The bullet gets fired from the gun undergoes rectilinear path. Here all the points of the body which is in motion are in same direction. Translational motion is generally seen in rectilinear motion when body moves in a straight line. It does not mean the earth revolving round the sun is complete rotational motion as the rotation might a rotational motion but the revolution is a translational motion. If the body covers the distance xx in time tt the translational motion would be the function of tt. Hence the translational motion is defined as

It is the study of translational motion which investigates the force effect on the motion which uses the basic equations and analyze what is movement of objects and how they get affected by various kind forces. The tools that are used to study movement are many among which Newton’s laws of motion is one. The First law states that any body either in rest or motion will not change its state unless we apply any external force upon it, while the second law gives the relationship between mass and acceleration where the force is product of mass and acceleration where its difficult to change translational motion of larger mass object than the smaller one.

Movement itself is nothing but the motion. Translational movement of any body can occur along a curved path or along the straight lines. Since the body undergoes this changes in its motion when a force acts onit, the movement takes place depending on the mass, the body having larger mass would have less translational motion whereas the body having lighter mass has much movement. This study of translational movement is known as translational dynamics.
