Three  water tanks of volumes 90 litres  ,18 liters and 72 litres have to be emptied out with the help of a smaller container.

 We have to find the largest capacity container that can exactly measure out the water without leaving anything in any of the three drums.

For this we need to find  the HCF  of   90,18 and 72.

The  full form of HCF is Highest Common Factor.

Answer =  18

Solution :-

The factors of 18 are: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18

The factors of 72 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 72

The factors of 90 are: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15, 18, 30, 45, 90

Then the greatest common factor is 18.
