Answer:

let the age of elder brother be x

and the age of younger brother be y

case1:A.T.Q

x-y=2.......................(1)

case 2: A.T.Q

x+y=10.......................(2)

adding equation (1) and (2)

x-y+x+y=2+10

2x=12

x=12/2

x=6

putting value of x in equation (1)

x-y=2

6-y=2

6-2=y

y=4

elder brother age =6years

younger brother age =4years

\textbf{\underline{\underline{According\:to\:the\:Question}}}

Assumption

Age of elder brother be p

Age of younger brother be n

Situation :-

p - n = 2 ......(Equation 1)

{\boxed{\sf\:{Second\; Situation}}}

p + n = 10 ......(Equation 2)

Add (1) and (2) we get :-

p - n + p + n = 2 + 10

2p = 12

\tt{\rightarrow p=\dfrac{12}{2}}

p = 6

{\boxed{\sf\:{Substitute\;the\;value\;in\;(1)}}}

p - n = 2

6 - n = 2

6 - 2 = n

n = 4

{\boxed{\sf\:{Elder\;Brother\;age}}}

= 6 years

{\boxed{\sf\:{Younger\;Brother\;age}}}

= 4 years
