The present age of father and son is 18 and 5.5 years respectively

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of father and son be x and y respectively.

Age of father 3 years ago= x-3

Age of son 3 years ago= y-3

The ratio of their ages 3 years ago= 6:1

SO ,

x-3÷ y-3=6:1

x-3= 6y- 18------(1)

Now,

Ratio of age of father and son after 3 years:

x:y= 36:11

11x= 36y

So, value of x= 36y÷11

Putting the value of x in the previous equation:

(36y÷11) -3= 6y- 18

18-3= 6y-(36y÷11)

15=66y-36y÷11

15= 30y÷11

165= 30y

y= 5.5 years

Now the age of father:

11x= 36×5.5

x= 198÷11

x= 18

Result
Thus, the present age of father and son is 18 and 5.5 years respectively
